If your child is unwell or you know that you are going to be late please contact the school as soon as possible and leave a message on the answerphone. A member of the office staff will inform your child's teacher.
Children are expected to arrive at school between 8:30 - 8:45. The school day officially starts at 8:45 when the register is taken. Any children who have not yet arrived at this time will be assumed absent. Late arrivals will be given a 'Late' mark, once the register has been closed and recorded late arrivals will need to be signed in to the 'Pupil In/Out book' and the official return will mark your child as absent for the morning session.
If we have not yet received confirmation that your child will not be in school the office staff will try to contact the primary carer to ensure that the child is safe. This is particularly important where we know that children walk to school or have transport provided by the Local Authority (LA).
It is helpful if parents are able to give an indication of the reason why the child is off sick and the numbers of days they think may be required; this is because we have a duty to monitor illnesses and ailments in order to report any potential outbreaks (e.g. measles or viruses such as Swine Flu) to both the LA and Public Health England.
Where children have had sickness or diarrhoea they need to be off of school for 48 hours after their last bout in order to minimise the risk of infection to others.
