Happy Chinese New Year!

We really enjoyed guessing your animal clues yesterday and it was great to see so many of you!

Today is our last day of term! You have worked very hard this term and it has been lovely to see lots of your work. You all deserve a rest over the holidays (grown-ups as well as children!).  

There is just one more day of learning - I have included some fun activities that you can do over the half-term if you would like too.

Mrs Churchill has uploaded an end-of-term assembly to the school website for you to watch and enjoy.

We have Safer Internet Day tomorrow in which we will be doing some useful activities as part of our in-school and home-learning, plus we will be having our next Zoom call later in the week.  I will be emailing you with further details about this. Writing Update Oak Academy 

We reached 18 minutes on the video and will complete the lesson tomorrow.

Maths Update

We have got to the end of Q2 in class using the diennes (tens and ones) to set out correctly in preparation for vertical addition and make sure we count carefully and use number bonds to check.

We will continue the lesson tomorrow.

Welcome back and Happy New Year to Nile Class.

 

I hope you are all well. I am well and recovered and fighting fit for 2021!

 

Your task today is to start getting ready for on-line learning tomorrow:

  • Set up a work / learning space
  •  Collect your equipment - pencils,sharpener,  pens, colouring pencils, crayons or felt tips, (a rubber, ruler, glue, sellotape / stapler are optional
  • White Rose Maths booklets
  • Purple home learning exercise book and a note book or scrap paper to jot down ideas
  • Maths objects for counting ready  such as dried pasta, coins, lego bricks and any other resources I sent home or from the class website.Make a grid for a hundred square but don't fill it in yet. 
  • English: Common exception words lists, phonic sounds sheets and an alphabet strip ( you can make your own if you don't have one already).

 

  • Set up some rules or guidelines for home learning such as being dressed and ready, timetable, breaks, what to do if you are stuck and so on. 
  • Practice using the software that you will need to access on-line learning.

Next week our topic in English is SUPERHEROES.

We will attempt to make a POP UP BOOK and a BALLOON CAR.

Over the weekend, start collecting:

a variety of pop-up books, card, glue, scissors, sticky tape, round balloons, plastic straws, glue, kebab sticks or dowel, rubber bands, string, a selection of ‘wheels’ (such as cotton reels, wooden beads or cut out your own from cardboard,LEGO®). 

It's going to be fun!
