The Pupil Premium is an additional grant given to schools to support groups of children who may be disadvantaged. The funding is to support schools to close the gap in attainment between groups of children and their peers.
The allocation of money has increased over time. For the 2017-2018 financial year schools received £1,320 for each pupil registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years and £300 for children registered as being from Service Families.
The statements below detail how the money is spent and the outcomes for the groups of children.
Over the past few years, we have seen a rise in the number of pupils who join us from Service Families. To support these children we have employed Mrs Catherine Venny as a Service Families Support Worker. Mrs Venny provides support to Service children who are transferring to and from Hilmarton Primary School, and emotional support if required; for example, when parents are deployed. Mrs Venny is a strong advocate for children from Service Families in all areas of school life and ensures that their needs and opinions are heard.
