Late/Absence Procedures

If your child is unwell or you know that you are going to be late please contact the school as soon as possible and leave a message on the answerphone. A member of the office staff will inform your child's teacher.

Children are expected to arrive at school between 8:25 - 8:30am.  At 8:30am the children will be collected from the playground by their classteacher.  Any child who arrives after this time must enter via the main entrance and a member of the office staff will take them to their classroom.  Late arrivals will be given a 'Late' mark in the register.

If your child is ill and will not be in school, please contact the school office by 9am giving the reason for absence.  We have a duty to monitor illnesses or ailments in order to report any potential outbreaks (e.g. measles or viruses such as Swine Flu) to both the Local Authority (LA) and Public Health England.  If we have not heard from you by 9.30am we will contact the primary carer to ensure the child is safe.  This is particularly important where we know that children walk to school or have transport provided by the LA.

Where children have had sickness or diarrhoea they need to be off of school for 48 hours after their last bout in order to minimise the risk of infection to others.
